Yay! It's done! It's not the straightest blocking job in the world, but it's done. It took me all of Jon Stewart to do it... Now to figure out how to keep the cat from walking across it overnight and getting a pin in his paw.
I probably should have done it in a room that I could close the door on... hindsight is always 20/20 :-D.

I know you used much different yarn that I'm using (I'm using Schaefer Anne, which is a sockish weight, actually lighter than sock weight, but I'm still knitting it on 8's and I have something like 4 repeats of the lace pattern to go before the border, and it's looking somewhat small. Does it expand a lot when you block it? It seems like it might since it's so stretchy, but then again I was thinking I should do some extra repeats of the pattern, since my yarn is finer.
So much for my "wait until I have less stuff in progress" plan, huh :)
Wow, you're quick!!! It is definitely stretchy... It started 20" x 40", and by the end of the blocking it was 28" x 59". But, I did a VERY taut blocking and I also did one extra set of the body 8 row repeat, so that made it a bit bigger. And even with that, I think I would like it a bit bigger still. In fairness, since it is called a "shoulder shawl" I don't think it is intended to be as big as I wanted. I was already thinking about doing it again, this time with 2 or 3 more repeats. Also, I might do a tiny bit less taut for my blocking next time.
Just my opinion...
Oh, and I know what you mean with the "wait until I have less stuff..." I already have 2 knitting and 1 spinning projects going, and I'm planning on starting another lace project already!
Hmm... well I have plenty of yarn, I just don't know if I have the patience to keep knitting and knitting and knitting ;)
And I didn't even think of the "shoulder shawl" aspect! Yeah, it's probably not meant to be as big as I wanted either ;) I wonder if DD would appreciate it.. it will probably be about her size if I do it according to the pattern! lol
